Chad Discher
Clinical Director, Licensed Professional Counselor
Chad is experienced in working with children, adolescents, individuals, couples and families in a variety of areas. His goal in counseling is to join with clients and walk along side them through life’s struggles and difficulties. With every client, he looks to provide an atmosphere of encouragement and provide an opportunity for growth. Chad finds great joy in helping others discover and use their strengths to make a lasting impact in their lives. He uses cognitive-behavioral, rational-emotive, play therapy and family system techniques depending on the needs of the client.
In counseling, Chad seeks to provide a safe space for all of his client by:
- Having an open mind and remaining nonjudgmental
- Tailoring counseling to each individual client’s needs
- Working toward the best interest of the client over his own interest, including making referrals to different counselors if the client’s needs are beyond the scope of his counseling
- As required by all counselors, holding the privacy of all clients sacred. He will never reveal information about his clients outside of the office and takes all reasonable measures to protect privacy whenever information is shared digitally.

While at Southwestern, Chad served as the Recreation Ministry Associate at Fielder Road Baptist Church in Arlington, TX (2006-2007). Statement of Faith
Chad received Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at the age of ten. One afternoon his grandfather explained to him that he was a sinner and that Jesus was the only way to be forgiven of his sins. His grandfather led him in a prayer to receive Christ. At the age of 20, the Lord used a variety of difficulties in his family and personal life to bring him into the fellowship of the Church. Through the love and encouragement of several adult leaders in the college ministry at Ingleside Baptist Church, he came to a more complete understanding of God’s grace and found a place to serve the body of Christ. It was through this time of serving that the Lord placed a desire in his heart to serve others and to use his life’s circumstances and gifts to help others know who Jesus.

Chad considers his family as one of his life’s greatest adventures. He is married to his “best friend” Jamie. Together, they have 3 amazing and accomplished children: two daughters and a young son. Chad believes his family has made him a better person in every area of his life.
